Crane runway

The solid foundation for every bridge crane,
built for stability and durability.

STANDAERT ROLBRUGGEN

What exactly is a crane runway?

A crane runway is the supporting and guiding structure on which an overhead crane or semi-gantry crane moves. It consists of runway beams with rails, which are attached to the building structure or to separate columns.

The crane runway ensures stable and safe movement of the crane over the full length of the hall or work zone and therefore forms an essential part of every crane system.

Typical applications

  • Support for overhead cranes in production halls
  • Extension of existing buildings or production zones
  • Extension of existing bridge crane installations
  • Industrial buildings and warehouses
  • New build projects with integrated crane infrastructure

In addition to new build projects, a crane runway can also be extended or adapted to an existing bridge crane, for example in case of hall extensions or optimisation of the workspace.

Extend or lengthen your crane runway

Do you have an existing crane runway or bridge crane that no longer meets your current production or storage needs? Extending or modifying a crane runway is often an efficient and cost-effective solution to make optimal use of your installation again.
In the case of hall extensions, reorganisation of a workspace or increased production capacity, your existing crane system can easily be adapted without full replacement.

What do extensions include?
  • Extension of existing crane runways
  • Adjustment of rails and beams to new lengths
  • Integration with existing bridge cranes
  • Expansion of work zones and reach
  • Reinforcement of existing structures if required

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

A crane runway is the supporting and guiding structure on which an overhead crane or semi-gantry crane moves. It consists of runway beams with rails, attached to the building structure or separate columns. A correctly designed and aligned crane runway is essential for safe, stable and wear-free crane movement.

Yes, Standaert Rolbruggen designs and installs both new crane runways and extensions and reinforcements of existing systems, for example in case of hall expansion or increasing loads. The structure complies with EN 1090-2 class EXC3 and is precisely aligned for optimal crane travel.

Yes, in addition to installation, Standaert Rolbruggen also provides periodic inspections, alignment, repairs and modifications of crane runways. The in-house intervention team ensures fast service, so your production does not come to a standstill due to wear or alignment issues.
